Piracy could top $2 trillion by 202208 February 2017
A new report predicts that the economic impact of counterfeiting and piracy could top $2 trillion by 2022.
The report, recently released by the International Trademark Association (INTA), predicted a rise in the value of counterfeit goods from $1.90 trillion in 2013 to $2.81 trillion by 2022.
The study looked at wide range of areas including digital piracy of film, music and software which is predated to increase to between $384 billion and $856 billion by 2022, from a current estimates $213 billion.
The research for this report was commissioned by INTA and Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting but headed by economics research firm Frontier Economics.
