New portal for international trade marks launched by WIPO

22 May 2017

Madrid Monitor will replace ROMARIN for searching and tracking international trade mark applications via the Madrid System.

The new portal is a “gateway to the Madrid System” and was launched in full by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) last week. It allows users to carry out pre-filing searches for trademarks registered through the Madrid System, track international applications, and monitor a portfolio of international trade mark registrations.

On its website WIPO says: “Madrid Monitor offers a simpler, more powerful and streamlined way to stay up-to-date on your trade mark portfolio.”

It combines the functionality of ROMARIN, Madrid E-Alert and Madrid Real-Time Status – all of which will no longer be available on the WIPO website later this year.

The Madrid System allows a trade mark rights owner to file a trade mark application across as many participating countries as they wish.
