International trade mark system reaches 100 members

Indonesia became the 100th of the Madrid System for international trade mark registrations yesterday in a landmark occasion for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Indonesia’s accession to the Madrid Protocol will come into force on January 2nd 2018, meaning that the Southeast Asian nation can be designated on international trade mark applications.

Sri Lanka set to join international trade mark system in 2018

Sri Lanka is set to join the system for international trade mark registrations (the Madrid System) in 2018, it has been reported.

The announcement was made by Sri Lanka’s minister of industry and commerce Rishad Bathiudeen.

Thailand to join international trade mark system

Thailand will become the 99th member of the system for registering international trade marks - the Madrid System - it was announced yesterday.

Administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Madrid System will be available for Thailand from 7th November 2017.

New portal for international trade marks launched by WIPO

Madrid Monitor will replace ROMARIN for searching and tracking international trade mark applications via the Madrid System.

The new portal is a “gateway to the Madrid System” and was launched in full by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) last week. It allows users to carry out pre-filing searches for trademarks registered through the Madrid System, track international applications, and monitor a portfolio of international trade mark registrations.
