Catharina is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney as well as a European Patent Attorney. She entered the profession in 2006, co-heading the London office of an international boutique IP law firm.

Catharina joined Bates Wells in 2014 and enjoys assisting household name charities, membership organisations, certification organisations, socially responsible businesses, and start-ups. Sectors include humanitarian aid, healthcare and education, as well as finance, artificial intelligence, fashion, and wine.

In addition to advising on general trade mark clearance, prosecution and registration matters, much of Catharina’s work involves advising clients on the law of infringement and passing off, as well as company and charity names. Her love of languages assists her in advising on overseas matters.
