This is the second event of this specific collaboration, and this time we are incredibly lucky to be joined by James McFarlane. J\ames is an IP solicitor and Men’s Mental Health maverick, who, at the height of Covid, defied tradition to start a highly successful Men’s Mental Health Group for lawyers in Scotland.

The Group is still growing today, and meet regularly to discuss Wellbeing topics typically considered ‘off the agenda’ for men.

James will be sharing his insights from that experience; from starting to growing the Group, and how it fits with his career and personal ethos.

We are also fortunate to again be joined by Graham McCartney, a trustee of Jonathan’s Voice and father to Jonathan McCartney.

As many will know, the charity was founded in memory of Jonathan; a patent attorney who tragically, and unexpectedly, took his own life.

Graham will provide a brief overview of the founding, and work, of Jonathan’s Voice; a poignant, but stark, note on why the topic of Men’s Mental Health is a vital area in which we need to continue to build the conversation.

Location

EIP: London, Fairfax House, 15 Fulwood Place, London, WC1V 6HU

This is a hybrid event, to allow us to try to reach as many people as possible. However, the in-person element, and EIP’s London Office, will have time for networking with like-minded individuals in the profession after the talks.

Who's it for

All in the IP profession, but the content will be primarily directed to men and individuals who identify as male.

Registration

To register please click here or on the link above. If you have any access requirements in person or online, please do get in touch with us at [email protected]

Cost

This event is free. That said, both organisations do need money to keep the show on the road, so if you enjoy the event please consider contributing. For more information, visit the IP Inclusive fundraising page, or the Jonathan’s Voice donations page.

Resources

The IP Inclusive and Jonathan’s Voice websites provide a plethora of fantastic resources all about Wellbeing and Mental Health.

Particularly relevant to Men’s Mental Health is the LawCare report: “Men’s mental health in the legal profession report”; an excellent resource.

Of course, there is no need to read any of these resources to attend the event and benefit from the knowledge that will be shared.  However, they are there if of interest to you.
