Normalising the conversation

10th Nov 2020

Understand how to recognise the signs of poor mental health and be confident enough to address it by reading the latest guide by mental health charity Jonathan’s Voice.

Co-founder of Jonathan’s Voice Graham McCartney spoke with IP Inclusive’s Andrea Brewster to discuss its latest mental health support guide for IP professionals.

The guide is designed to encourage IP professionals, no matter their role, to ask for help sooner.

Graham mentioned that research found that a lot of professionals struggle to recognise the signs of poor mental health. He noted that although stress and burn-out are not mental illnesses, they can lead to long term mental problems.

According to one report Graham shared, 95% of people who have had to take time off due to workplace stress did not feel able to give their employer a real reason.

This guide is all about normalising the mental health conversation in the workplace, to be able to:

  • Recognise
  • Address
  • Prevent

“Whatever your position there is something for you in this booklet,” Graham told Andrea.

The guide is free to download and has multiple resources about how to deal with stress, anxiety and work overload.
