Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht, AKD

Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht

Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht has been part of the Intellectual Property & Technology practice group of AKD since 2009.

Roderick advises and represents various national and international clients in the field of Intellectual Property Law.

He has a specific focus on copyright law, design law, trademark law, trade name law, and unfair competition.

He is active in several markets, amongst them the fields of retail and consumer products. Roderick regularly litigates in infringement cases.

At the same time, he advises about the legal aspects of brand development and product design, and the drawing up of agreements in relation to intellectual property, such as licences, assignments, and distribution.

In 2020, Roderick obtained his PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam for his research on trade name law (‘De Handelsnaamwet onder de loep’).

Roderick often lectures and publishes on various subjects in the field of intellectual property law.

He is the regular lecturer for the BMM vocational training for trademark and design attorneys, for the S.K. Martens Academy (specialist course in IP litigation) and for the Permanent Education Centre.

Roderick studied at Leiden University and at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco.
