Barbara is the founder of Berdou Attorneys, a boutique IP firm based in Johannesburg, South Africa which she established in 2005 after many years of specialist IP practice. She has three South African law degrees (including a Masters degree in Intellectual Property Law) and is admitted as a Notary Public. Barbara has significant experience in developing IP protection strategies, commercialisation of IP, as well as filing, prosecution and enforcement of brands. Barbara is a fellow and councilor of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL). Barbara co-presented the Licensing module of INTA’s Finance for Non-Finance Legal Professionals Certificate Program as well as the Africa module of "The Lifecycle of a Trademark" Certificate Program. She has chaired several committees and currently chairs the Trademarks, Designs and Merchandising committee for LESI.
