The UK also achieved second place for overall IP environment in the US Chamber of Commerce's 13th International IP Index with a score of 93.98%.

The UK maintained perfect 100% scores in both the trade mark rights and design rights categories, highlighting robust protection frameworks across multiple IP disciplines.

The perfect trade mark score, shared only with France and the US, reinforces the UK's position as a premier destination for businesses seeking strong brand protection.

CITMA President, Kelly Saliger said: "The results echo our consistent messaging to business and trade - that the UK remains one of the world's most effective IP systems for the protection of registered rights.

"Our members are fundamental to that system, being fully embedded in its operation. Members leverage the benefit of those registered rights, enforcing them where necessary to protect the businesses with registered rights. This in turn makes the UK one of the toughest jurisdictions on infringers - a key factor when businesses are looking for markets to enter, making the UK a very attractive option.

“We continue to work with our counterparts across the profession to build that recognition of IP both in the UK and internationally."

In the design rights category, the UK was among eight countries achieving the maximum possible score, alongside France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The International IP Index, published by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, evaluates 55 global economies across 53 unique indicators spanning nine categories. The UK's strong performance comes during a period when 33 economies showed improved scores, demonstrating increasing global recognition of IP protection's importance.
