We have launched a new membership category - CITMA Paralegal.

CITMA has launched a new membership category, CITMA Paralegal, and all existing Administrator members have been transferred across to the new category.

The change recognises the work of these members and better reflects the important role they play in the trade mark and design legal profession. It also enables members in this category to use the title CITMA Paralegal.

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) element for CITMA Paralegals to fulfill. From 2019 this will need to be self-certified at renewal.

CITMA will be running events, seminars and webinars specifically targeted at paralegal, administrator and formalities staff, including the first CITMA Paralegal Seminar on Friday 27th October.

CITMA President Kate O’Rourke said: “This is more than just a change of name - it is a commitment we are making to do more to support and develop the work of trade mark paralegals, administrators and formalities staff.

“Many Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys and our firms rely on the excellent work of paralegal colleagues to deliver outstanding results for the organisations we represent. I am proud that CITMA is doing more to develop and recognise this vital role.”
