Government to expand business and intellectual property centres

26th Mar 2020

The Government has put measures in place to expand business and intellectual property centres across the UK.

Intellectual property what is it?

In the budget for 2020 that was announced earlier this month by Chancellor Rishi Sunak, the Government has said it will allocate £13 million to expand the British Library’s network of Business and Intellectual Property Centres.

The Government has said that the £13 million will go towards opening new centres in 21 cities and 18 centres surrounding local library networks across the UK, including London.

The centres provide a comprehensive collection of databases and publications for start-up business owners and entrepreneurs. The centres also have practical intellectual property workshops, one-to-one coaching and inspiring talks.

According to the British Library, the intellectual property information is the most valuable part of its service.

At the moment there are 13 national network business and intellectual property centres across the UK.
