The series, which covers a range of mental health and wellbeing topics, is designed to help break down the barriers that can prevent individuals from seeking support. This latest addition reflects the charity's ongoing commitment to fostering open, honest conversations about mental health within the IP profession.

Nicola Neath, Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Trainer and Consultant, leads this latest video, describing curiosity as a “safe, neutral, non-defensive state”. They also suggest ways individuals might approach curiosity, what it brings to light, and how this can help us all to engage more thoughtfully with our colleagues, our workplaces and ourselves.

The charity champions curiosity and its ability to create space for understanding. This can be particularly valuable in the fast-paced, high-pressure environments many IP professionals work in.

In its recent press release, Jonathan’s Voice adds, “Curiosity is more than simply asking questions. It is a mindset that allows us to pause, reflect and notice the assumptions, fears and biases that can shape our behaviour and decision-making.”

In the short video, Nicola:

  • explains how curiosity supports inclusion and equality by helping us recognise and suspend bias and prejudice
  • explores how fear, shame and inherited assumptions can influence our reactions to difference
  • describes the relationship between emotional safety, the nervous system and our ability to stay curious
  • shares how curiosity can be used as a non-defensive and ethical stance when engaging with ourselves and others.
