Chris Skidmore no-longer Minister for IP

Chris Skidmore is no-longer the Minister for IP following a reshuffle of ministers by new Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

However, despite speculation the UK Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO) has confirmed that there is no official appointment of Mr Skidmore’s successor yet.

Former Minister for IP Jo Johnson MP has become Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Department for Education, which could mean a return to IP for Mr Johnson. Jo Johnson was Minister for IP from 2016-2018.

Chris Skidmore was appointed Minister for IP as part of his role as Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, following the resignation of Sam Gyimah MP.

Mr Skidmore is now Interim Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth in the Department of Health and Social Care.
