New IP Minister takes up position

George Freeman MP has been appointed as the new Minister for Intellectual Property (IP) following the recent government reshuffle.

Mr Freeman, the Conservative MP for Mid Norfolk, succeeds Amanda Solloway MP as the Minister for Science, Research and Innovation - the role that includes IP. 

An MP since 2010, Mr Freeman has previously served as a Minister in the Department for Transport, as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Life Sciences at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department of Health.

Before becoming an MP Mr Freeman worked in the life sciences sector. 

Alongside IP the role includes science and research, space and technology.
