CIPA CITMA Cricket Club celebrates 25th anniversary
All IP professionals are invited to join us to watch or play in a landmark cricket match to celebrate sport, community and friendship.
CITMA and CIPA's joint cricket club is proudly marking its 25th anniversary season with a special commemorative match on Sunday, 15th June 2025. We're calling on all members - especially those involved in the club's early days - to attend this milestone event at the club’s home ground of Alexandra Park Cricket Club in north London.
Current club captain Andy Spurr said: “We do need a few more players for the anniversary game to make a good day of it, so would encourage anyone – whatever your level of experience – to consider signing up.”

Founded 25 years ago, the CIPA CITMA Cricket Club is primarily populated by patent and trade mark attorneys.
"We're particularly keen to welcome more women players to join our ranks," says Andy. "Despite being founded by a woman, we've struggled to recruit female players over the years. Our modified rules ensure everyone can contribute regardless of ability, with no player able to dominate single-handedly."
The anniversary match promises to be a relaxed affair with gentle cricket at its heart, complemented by food, drinks and family-friendly entertainment throughout the day. Thanks to CIPA's generous sponsorship, there will be no cost for participants, with refreshments provided.
The cricket club has built an impressive touring legacy over the past quarter-century, visiting diverse European locations including Sofia, Ljubljana, Porto, and Alicante (to play the EUIPO).
The club website chronicles these adventures. Among the most memorable tours was a match in Corfu's UNESCO World Heritage main square, played before puzzled tourists.
The club has also visited Vis, Croatia, twice—an island with a fascinating cricketing heritage dating back to the Napoleonic Wars. Following periods of closure during post-war communism, the island now boasts a cricket pitch built by a forward-thinking vintner adjacent to a former Allied grass airstrip.
The club is actively recruiting additional players for the 15th June anniversary match. Family members and friends are warmly encouraged to attend as spectators.
