Day one - trade mark examination reports

David Yeoman from Keltie will investigate the types of examination reports commonly encountered when filing trade mark applications under the Madrid Protocol. He will also provide you with expert insight on how to manage them effectively.

David will also do a brief run through of the trade mark application process for UK, EUTMs and IRs. He will highlight where the examination report sits within the timeline followed by a closer look at the nature of the issues typically raised at examination stage. David will then explore how these issues can be overcome to keep your application moving forward.

We will also be providing you with a short reading supplement to prepare you for this insightful talk.

David is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney. His responsibilities include the prosecution of UK and EU trade marks, trade mark audits, conducting clearance searches and handling contentious matters such as trade mark opposition proceedings, infringement matters, revocation and invalidity actions.  David also advises in relation to the law of passing-off.

David’s professional experience spans a diverse range of business sectors ranging from clothing and consumer products to pharmaceuticals.

Steven’s practical hints and tips will help ensure that your opposition has the best chance of succeeding - and not ending up foundering on procedural issues.

Steven is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney at Lewis Silkin. He has an unusual blend of experience because he originally began his career in IP as an examiner at the UK IPO, before moving into private practice.

Steven acts for a wide range of clients from individuals to multi-nationals, assisting them in the searching, selection, filing, registration, maintenance and then enforcement of trade mark rights on a global basis.

He helps clients choose the level of IP protection that best suits their project and their immediate needs, often costs can be spread over two financial years using International Convention priority filings.
