Events code of conduct
1. Introduction
CITMA is committed to fostering a positive, professional, and inclusive environment at all our events. We welcome participation from individuals of all backgrounds and are dedicated to ensuring that every attendee feels safe, respected, and valued—regardless of race, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, religion, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected from everyone attending our events.
2. Expected Behaviour
All event participants, including speakers, delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and staff, are expected to:
- Treat others with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Communicate in a constructive, inclusive, and considerate manner.
- Respect differing opinions, experiences, and perspectives.
- Avoid language or behaviour that could be perceived as offensive, discriminatory, or harassing.
- Honour personal boundaries and seek consent where appropriate.
- Report any concerns or breaches of this Code of Conduct to CITMA staff promptly.
3. Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are not acceptable at any CITMA event (in person or virtual):
- Harassment, intimidation, bullying, or discrimination in any form.
- Derogatory or inappropriate comments, slurs, or jokes relating to race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics.
- Unwelcome sexual attention or the use of sexualised language or imagery.
- Disruption of sessions, presentations, or networking spaces.
- Harassing or inappropriate photography, audio or video recording
- Aggressive or threatening behaviour, whether verbal or physical.
4. Reporting a Concern
If you experience or witness any behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please speak to a member of the CITMA team as soon as possible or contact us via email at [email protected].
All reports will be handled with discretion, and confidentiality will be maintained wherever possible.
5. Consequences of Breach
CITMA reserves the right to take action in response to any breach of this Code of Conduct.
- Issuing a warning to the individual(s) involved.
- Removing the individual(s) from the event without refund.
- Excluding the individual(s) from future CITMA events.
- Reporting serious incidents to relevant authorities.
- Referring the matter for consideration under CITMA’s disciplinary procedures, where appropriate, which may affect membership status.
