This course is designed to provide an introduction to Registered Design administration (record-keeping), formalities and renewals, exploring the process of applying for a Registered Design in the UK.

Intended for formalities staff in the intellectual property profession, either in private practice or in-house with up to one year's experience, this course will complement on-the-job training.

It is also suitable to be taken by individuals with solid experience of trade mark formalities and administration who are looking to develop their understanding in relation to Registered Designs.

After registering you will receive a link to log on and complete the course at your convenience. The course itself will take one to two hours for you to complete and you will have continued access to it for the following eight weeks.

Once you have completed all the units you will unlock a short quiz – get 80% or more correct and you’ll pass.

If you don’t complete it first time you may wish to revisit a few of the units before taking it again – you have an unlimited number of attempts.

Passing the quiz will allow you to download and print your own personalised certificate to demonstrate that you have completed the training with an understanding of Registered Design administration and formalities.

How will I learn?

This is a fully online, standalone course, with interactive activities, scenarios and videos to help bring the topic to life.

You’ll work through the course content in order, but then once you’ve completed the course you will be able to go back and dip in and out as you wish – for example, if you want to refresh your memory on a particular point.

What do I need to pass the course?

When you’ve worked through all of the course content, you’ll unlock a short multiple-choice quiz which gives you an opportunity to check your understanding of some of the key points.

You’ll need to score 80% or higher to pass this quiz, but don’t worry – you can take as many attempts as you need to.

When you pass the quiz, you’ll receive a certificate of completion.
